14/08/2006 The morning after the night before...

Thanks to everyone for coming along and making this an absolutely rocking LAN :) We learned a lot from the event and we'll be improving on the next one. Watch this space for updates...once we've recovered enough :p

11/08/2006 7 Day countdown - LAN TODAY!

Today's the day people. We'll see you all later! :)

10/08/2006 7 Day countdown - Day #1

Last day before the LAN...and you know what that means, right? 24 hours of pure last minute checking to make sure there's nothing we missed..no mouse left unturned, no screen left unpolished...no...things...what are bad, like...etc

Anyhow, I'm off work packing everything up and testing things 'one last time'. I'll be available on the forum for most of the day so if you have any last min questions, feel free to pop them over to me via PM/whatever.

FrenchTart

09/08/2006 7 Day countdown - Day #2

We've had a few last-minute stragglers that we're trying to fit in. We try to be as flexible as possible as it's definitely the more the merrier but we can only fit so many in once the booking deadline has passed and the tables are ordered :)

In other news, the pizza deal has been completely sorted. See here for details of the £6 dominos pizzas ;)

08/08/2006 7 Day countdown - Day #3

Bookings closed early this morning after one last minute booking. Sorry if you have not been able to make it this time but we have already started planning the next one.

07/08/2006 7 Day countdown - Day #4

Well, we've spent most of today stuck in work so not so much fun to report. The letters will be going out tomorrow morning (see Pip's forum post /re this) with loads of info for you lucky people. In the meantime, it's another whole load of server configuring tonight. Woo, yeah...

06/08/2006 7 Day countdown - Day #5

Well, today has been fun so far. We crimped around 40 network cables for all you guys coming to the event. Four and a half hours of non-stop crimping action. Truly, heaven.
The rest of the night will involve reinstalling windows on about 5 servers, testing hardware and most important of all - some beer to wash away the harrowing memories of crimping network cables...

Be sure to check out Pip's updated post in the general forum with all the latest bacon info. Prices and ordering details are all available for those of us that want a nice tasty breakfast ;)

05/08/2006 7 Day countdown - Day #6

Okay. Today Me, Flibble and uv went out and bought some of the prizes. Here's a lovely lill' list for you all:

Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse
Steelpad 4D Mousemat
Coolermaster Cathode Case Lights
Akasa Amber Quiet Case Fans
Coolermaster HDD Cooler
Akasa 3-slot Fan Controller
And though we've not ordered it yet, look out for the half-price pizzas for the winning Savage team ;)

And of course, there's the mystery GamesMeister prize...

04/08/2006 7 Day countdown - Day #7

Well, 7 days to go to the lan but only THREE MORE DAYS TO BOOK. Remember, we'll be closing bookings on Monday so you really need to get yourselves sorted very quickly if you've not booked yet :)

Tomorrow: My shopping trip for prizes ;)

28/07/2006 Lots of new signups...

Looks like we're being joined by loads of people from the enemydown forums to come play CS:S (and be roped into all our other tourneys, of course)...welcome to you all :) On that note, it's probably a good idea to signup asap as places are filling fast. Nine days left in which to signup... :)

ALSO: Check the general forum for updates /re schedule of tournaments, prizes and an updated seating plan

25/07/2006 Pictures of our "day out" at the TA Centre

...will come very soon :) Unfortunately, I got kind of carried away with my MAME cabinet building today and don't really have time to work on the pictures properly in addition to all these page updates and sorting the CS:S stuff. Very soon though, I promise ;p

In fact, so soon that I managed to get it done here and now: All the pictures in the world

24/07/2006 Three Great Updates for One Great Page Refresh!

First off: Tournament details!

We've updated the tournament section of the forum with details about what we'll be running. I'll be adding this to a section on the main site asap (i.e. when I get the chance) too. Link here.

Second bit o' bob: Long distance wifi - our 1.2KM test.

Well, to the shock of all (including us) our wireless link worked flawlessly over a 1.2KM distance. As the distance between the venue and our house will be only 800m, I'm quite confident that the only problem we may have is getting LOS over those tall buildings - however, we're working on that :) Some of the more observant of you have probably seen this on the forum already but I thought it was worth posting here anyhow - here's the link for the rest of you

Last, but not least: Welcome to our new signups!

Welcome to Sickles (pronounced "sick Les") and Fyaaaa - hopefully you'll be joined by a few more in the coming days ;)

Also, a belated welcome to Jester, Hartley, Shady, LuciD, toosepin, VaderDSL, Somebodydied, mr_ric, Braz, element21, coppo81, Daz156, Ric, bob_man and Vicious Pixie.

16/07/2006 Closing Date for Payments (and other updates)

The closing date for payments/registrations is now set to midnight Monday 7th of August. After this we won't be accepting new registrations for the August event and we CANNOT allow on the door payments due to security reasons at the event. Sorry guys :/

Our internet situation is starting to look up - I've been told that we'll up and running on the 20th of July (hindsight: HAHA..yeah right) with a bit of luck. Here's hoping...

Also: We tested our wireless link over a 1.2KM distance yesterday. Complete success with a very strong signal. It's looking *very* promising to get this up and running for the event.

30/06/2006 Moving house

We're moving house tomorrow so we'll be without inet for a few days or a week... Hoping to arrange to share someone's wifi but it depends on range :s

To be more specific, the people without inet are: Frenchtart, Flibble and uv.

See you all soon!

24/06/2006 Signups 'signing up'

We've got a fair few signups now but we need more! :) Get your pimping hats on and let people know about the LAN, y0 ;p

Just in case some people were worried, the LAN is DEFINITELY going ahead and will be running as planned on the 11th of August to the 13th.

28/05/2006 New Website

Website is updated and rocking with the new format - thanks Ink! We may update again after the LAN with some new forum software and such malarky.

Welcome

Welcome to Frag Manchester. We're a large group of friendly gamers that like to host LAN parties.

Starting in the evening on Friday August 11th and finishing on Sunday 13th August, this is our first event under the FragM logo and will be the biggest we've organised to date.

Though we love the action of FPS, RTS and the like, we're also big fans of retro-gaming. Hence you'll find plenty of old-school SNES/MegaDrive/MAME games at our events and tournaments to match. ;)

We're always on the look out for new games and new challenges and love to meet new players. If you want to initiate others into your favourite games, or join other like-minded players then we're here to help you out.
