28/12/2006 Line writeup now online!

Read it here.

Still more to come, along with loads of pics to be put on the site very soon :) We're still looking into venues at the moment and I hope to have a date for the next lan within a couple of weeks.

Stay frosty ;)

18/12/2006 What a rocking lan!

Well, the LAN ended yesterday and everyone went to their respective homes to catch some much-needed sleep. Something about 48 hours of andrenaline, tourneys, prizes and caffeine tend to take it out of you ;)

The atmosphere at the LAN was amazing and from what I could tell, everyone had a muchly cool time. We've got funk loads of pictures of the event, prizes, tourneys (including a time lapse of the Golden Eye tourney iirc) and a couple of recordings of the GIANT Jenga towers/walls and god knows what else. Check here frequently for updates and picture posts, y0.

Finally, we need your feedback about the LAN. Likes, dislikes, comedy moments (*cough* laptop screen *cough*)...we want to hear it all ;) Check out this thread and spam it up to the max.

15/12/2006 7-day countdown DAY 0!

Today's the day you waited all yesterday afternoon for. IT'S LANMAS!

See you later guys!

14/12/2006 7-day countdown DAY 1!

It was the night before lanmas and grandpa badger was out for the count...

...Anyhow, enough about alcoholic badgers - it's the LAN in JUST ONE DAY! You should've all received your pre-event letters by now and if you haven't, please let me know by posting in this thread. Tonight's the night for all those game updates, installs and virus checks. Also very important - SET STEAM TO OFFLINE MODE! This is absolutely vital if you're planning on playing in the CSS tourney :)

So anyhow, get installed, get packed and get ready. By tomorrow you'll be a-lannin' ;)

13/12/2006 7-day countdown DAY 2!

Can you feel how close the lan is? Just two days until you're being slapped with the best of them :)

We've been given an extra 25% discount on all side orders from Domino's - see details in this thread. You can't really argue with those prices...not unless you're a pretty damn good arguer anyhow :)

I've also taken the opportunity to provide some more details about the LAN and general conduct/arrival/etc. Please check this thread for the details. Very useful to know and it would be very much appreciated if all attendees could check it out.

12/12/2006 7-day countdown DAY 3!

Well, last night was fun. Rather than do the work I was supposed to I played some Soldat along with some of you lot ;) T'was rocking and anyone that's not tried it yet should download it. It'll be a mini-tourney too so you could easily take home something rocking if you win.

Letters are going out today! You should receive them tomorrow with luck (they've been sent to your paypal address). They've got all the latest LAN gossip, and are just dreamy. Let one of us know if you've not received it by thursday and we'll email you a copy :)

11/12/2006 7-day countdown DAY 4!

Another day, another update :)

We're getting close now. I've just confirmed our order for the ID cards - you lucky people will receive one when you get to the venue. Here's a pic.. Tonight we're sending out your letters. If you don't receive them by thursday, get in contact with one of the organisers.

10/12/2006 7-day countdown DAY 5!

Well, everything's looking good :) Intranet works...servers work...even flibble's PC works. Shocking, eh?

This is the LAST DAY TO BOOK. Tomorrow we'll be sending out letters to everyone coming along with details /re the venue, maps, etc. If you've not booked or contacted me about booking, now's the absolute latest you can leave it.

More to come :)

09/12/2006 7-day countdown DAY 6!

Another day down and another day to spend testing hardware for the lan. I tell you, I think I enjoy the hardware testing more than the lan itself ;)

We've had a few more people contact us about paying last minute and if I've spoken to you, it won't be a problem. Just keep me informed and up to date.

Peace out, y'all :p

08/12/2006 7-day countdown DAY 7!

One week to go till the event and only three days for booking. It's time to fish out those wallets and get yourself a ticket ;)

We've got an action-packed weekend of equipment testing planned. No doubt broken up with a few pizzas and beer. Make sure to check here daily for all the latest news and last minute updates :)

24/11/2006 Pizza details!

Okay everyone, here's the pizza details for y'all ;)

Few slight differences this time though it mostly will be the same:

We're still having pizzas provided by Dominos (though a different store) - so garlic dips for everyone *cheers*.

Large pizzas (13.5") with 4 toppings and a free garlic dip = £6.50

Bottles of coke/diet coke = £1

Side orders will be full price.

For the Savage tourney, we'll still be doing pizzas for the winning team @ £3/each. If you're on the winning team and don't get pizza then you're mad, mad I tells ye!

21/11/2006 Tourneys, new organisers, bookings, prizes, pizzas...aww yeah...

You read it, you can't un-read it.

Loads of info for you today so sit yourself down so that you're sitting down on a seat that you sit on.

wootz to the h00x has joined our organising team to replace Mr Tortoise. H00x has loads of CSS admin skillz and makes a mean pina colada and so I'm sure he'll be an asset to the team :)

We now have draft of the tourney schedule available. Check it out here. There's the olden goldies from FragM #1 and a few new ones to spice things up a little ;) Check it out.

Bookings will close on Sunday 10th of December. Remember that bookings go up to full price one week before they close so book early to save yourself some dosh. In future, we will be changing the booking system slightly to help us cover costs and improve the lan but not penalise those who've supported us by booking early. Watch this space.

Pizzas are still being negotiated given the venue change but we should still be able to get dominos and at close to or the same price as previously. Loosen those belts, people!

We'll soon have a nice list of prizes for your guys to peruse. These will be in addition to the amazing sponsorship we've had confirmed by our sponsors which is detailed in the posts below.

Well, you've reached the end of today's long long update. All that remains is to jump on our gamesnight servers every tuesday (that means tonight, y0!) and kick some arse!

FrenchTart/Dave

13/11/2006 FragM #2 is GOGOGO! 15th - 17th December

We've just had confirmation for this date at the Clifton TA Centre. Wootz!

Bookings will be going back online in a few hours and we'll get more details to you all ASAP.

02/11/2006 Current status of FragM #2

Well, those of you who've read the forums will already know that we're still negotiating a date with our possible venues. We're hoping for a date early in December (preferably 2nd weekend) but it's all dependant on when they'll let us in :p

For now, we've frozen bookings until we know a date for FragM #2 and we'll of course look to help out people who've already booked and can't make the new date.

In the meantime, keep an eye on the forums for discussion /re tourneys, games and that crazy "FragM" thing I hear all the kids talking about these days...

27/10/2006 DATE CHANGE, VENUE PROBLEMS, KILLMENOW

Okay, you guessed it, we're going to have to postpone the event. Looks like the weekend of the 17th to 19th at the Clifton TA is the only date we can get with them. Unfortunately, they neglected to say that during the numerous phone calls I made to them to confirm the date of the 3rd and indeed when we spoke to them this morning before travelling out.

I can well imagine this being a problem for people and if it is, let me know and we'll do everything we can to help you out. It's seriously messed us about as organisers and I'm sure loads of you are in very similar boats.

Please answer in the poll here if you can/can't make it to the weekend we're now looking at. I will book the event in a day or so.

25/10/2006 BOOKINGS CLOSE IN ONE WEEK!

As you all know, the event is prepay and we also need as much notice as possible about people coming so that we can sort out hire of equipment and such. Bookings will close at midnight, Wed 1st of November so anyone that hasn't booked yet really really needs to pull their finger out.

23/10/2006 VENUE CHANGE!

Yesterday we were informed that our usual venue in Rusholme won't be available for the weekend we originally booked. This is due to a last minute schedule change for some army-related stuff and so basically, the place is full for that weekend.

Obviously we didn't want to cancel the LAN, so panic-stations struck and as such we've managed to get the use of Clifton TA Centre (used by Phoenix LANs) for the weekend.

Whilst the venue change is rather unfortunate it does mean that we'll hopefully have MUCH more relaxed venue policies. I know that Phoenix LANs get two sleeping/rest rooms, use of the kitchen and most importantly of all: use of the bar!. We're meeting someone from the TA centre on Friday to finalise arrangements so I'll get back to you with details after that :)

Something else I forgot: We realise that transport might be an issue for some of the people that've already booked. If it is, post on our "need a lift thread" in the main forum and we'll see what we can organise. We'll obviously do all we can to help out.

11/10/2006 Internet at the LAN!

Something you've all been waiting to hear, but we can now confirm that we will definitely* have internet at the upcoming LAN. We have sourced a connection that's very local to the venue and we will be using a (short-distance!) wireless network to forward this connection. You'll be able to connect via our internal ethernet network. No more STEAM issues, with luck :)

*We do need to do some last tests to ensure that this all works properly, but it looks very good as of this moment.

11/10/2006 News Update

Well, our sponsors are being quite awesome! We've got an Anycom BluNa Bluetooth Adapter for iPod to add to the prize pile, and a Nova Optical Mouse Pad MicrOptic+, Blue [V-MOP-AR-BL-02] for the first ten signups.. don't forget, that means the first 14 on the counter, as organisers don't get prizes ;)

Bookings are going slowly, but steadily.. and there's another 10-15 people who are definately coming, but waiting for good ol' pay day ;)

Anywho, signup quick, to get free stuff without winning a game :P, and pony on over to the forums to tell us what games we should set up servers for! We have the usual stuff (CS:S, F.E.A.R., BF2, Savage etc.), but if you have any recommendations, or a game you think we should all be playing, give us a shout :)

:uv:

06/10/2006 New sponsor!

I've been in contact with a representative of several companies (Nova, Razer, Speed Link, Anycom, Meroncourt and Everglide) and we've been offered a rather impressive package of stuff to give away as prizes for you lot:

3 X Winner Mats,3 X Killer Mats, 2 X Medusa Headsets, 2 X Progamers bags, 1 X S500 Headset, 1 X Titan Monster Mat Fanatic Version, X Titan Monster Mat DKT Version, 1 X Copperhead Mouse, 1 X Diamondback Mouse, 1 X eXactMat and 1 X Armadillo cable management system.

I'm sure you'll agree that there's a rather hefty assortment of stuff there! :D

One thing we need you all to do to ensure that the lan goes ahead is to actually signup and book. Leaving it all to the last minute will leave us rather high and dry and will just lead to cancellations - never fun. Come on guys, get organised and signup :)

30/09/2006 New sponsor announcment - Crucial Memory

These guys have just sent us 2x512 sticks of DDR2 to give away as a prize at the event. Looks pretty good and hopefully one of you guys will win it in Nov - assuming I've not tried to ram it into my DDR1 motherboard ;)

27/09/2006 Payments now live!

Payments for FragM #2 are now live so quick go signup!

We're having to use the signup system used for the first event because I (Inky) haven't had time to finish writing the new one - designed to make sure we get all the information we need of you!

Group booking discounts:

  • Group of 5 = 10% discount

20/09/2006 New date confirmed!

We've just booked the new date with the captain. This being:

3rd till the 5th of November

This is literally the ONLY date we can book for this year due to the TA being in use and clashes with other LAN events. Book now and use it to warm up for i29 ;)

Signups aren't up yet but are coming very soon, curtesy of our very own lill' Inky.

18/09/2006 House test LAN and possible new sponsors.

Well, first off, we're having a house LAN on the 30th of September. Not really enough space there to have everyone pop along but our internet connection there has a 1.2mbit upload so you're more than welcome to join us on our game and teamspeak servers! :) I'll post more details in the coming days /re this.

I'm also in negotiations with a a couple of potential sponsors at the moment. Can't say anymore yet, but keep an eye out very soon indeed for an update :)

13/09/2006 Bad news and good news...

Okay, bad news first:
Due to lots of difficulties with clashes on the date for a few of the organisers and problems with the payments system and imminent date, we're going to have to postpone the LAN till early December :/

Good news is that it'll allow us to implement a LOT more of the great ideas both we and you have had about how to improve the LAN so it'll be a much more rocking event :)

Sorry to do this to everyone but we've just been beset by problems for this event. I'll get back to you with a new date ASAP.

07/09/2006 Sponsor announcement - Icemat

Icemat have kindly offered us 5 of their shiny mousemats to use as prizes for the event. Icemats are quality gaming mats that somehow even put my cake-board and teflon cooking sheet monstrosities to shame :) Check them out at www.icemat.com

More to come soon (including sponsors page) :)

01/09/2006 Event #2 and lots of updates.

Okay, we've got a date for the next event - The 6th of October to the 8th. You'll be able to signup with our new shiny signup system shortly so watch this space :)

We're revamping and improving lots of the tourneys and general running of the next event so keep an eye on the forums and stay on top of the new 'stuff'. Also check out our photos of the first event in the non-so-obviously titled "Event 1 Photos" link in the menu bar above.

Lot's more news to come soon :)

Welcome

Welcome to Frag Manchester. We're a large group of friendly gamers that like to host LAN parties in Manchester.

Starting in the evening on Friday August 11th and finishing on Sunday 13th August, this is our first event under the FragM logo and will be the biggest we've organised to date.

Though we love the action of FPS, RTS and the like, we're also big fans of retro-gaming. Hence you'll find plenty of old-school SNES/MegaDrive/MAME games at our events and tournaments to match. ;)

We're always on the look out for new games and new challenges and love to meet new players. If you want to initiate others into your favourite games, or join other like-minded players then we're here to help you out.
